Walabot HOME: The ultimate fall detection and health monitoring system

Written by Roger Peverelli and Reggy de Feniks - Founders The DIA Community on Jul 15, 2019

Vayyar Imaging is the global leader in 4D imaging technology. Vayyar develops unique imaging sensors, based on proprietary radio waves technology, that enable monitoring the environment in real time, privately, without using a camera. Walabot HOME is a fall detection and health monitoring device that addresses these issues. It enables aging in place with dignity and provides peace of mind to seniors and their families.

Walabot HOME is commercially available to consumers in the United States online and is either piloted or in different adoption stages by dozens of B2B partners globally, like Insurance companies, smart home companies, nursing homes, distributors, telecommunication companies and more. Walabot HOME B2B partners are wide-spread in Europe, US, Australia, Japan, China and more. Walabot HOME is CE and FCC certified.

In 2018, Vayyar was named a Technology Pioneer with the potential to transform society and industry by the World Economic Forum. In 2019, Vayyar was named to Fast Company’s 50 Most Innovative Companies List.

Falls among older adults are extremely common
Unfortunately, falls among older adults (65+) are extremely common and are a leading cause for fatal injuries, emergency room visits and hospitalizations within the European union. The healthcare expenditures related to falls is estimated at >20 Billion Euros each year and are expected to increase with the projected increase in life span. Moreover, it is estimated that by 2060 the number of person 65+ requiring assistance with ADLS (Activities of daily living) is expected to double (>40M).

How it works

Walabot HOME monitors the environment passively and privately, with no wearables and no camera. When a fall occurs, it is immediately detected by the device and an alert\call is dispatched, either to a caregiver or to a monitoring service\center for immediate response.

In addition to fall detection, Walabot HOME can analyze physiological and behavioral patterns and changes. For example, Walabot HOME can detect time spent in rest, nocturnal wandering and detect gait changes, thus enabling early detection of health deterioration.

Why we selected Vayyar for DIA Amsterdam
By providing immediate fall detection, Walabot HOME minimizes hospitalization and rehabilitation expenditures related to falls. And it opens new opportunities for service-based business models such as providing remote monitoring services or preemptive care before a fall or health deterioration occurs. Reliable home monitoring will in turn provide the confidence required to “age in place” and maintain independent living at home.

The unique, varied and wealthy data derived from Walabot HOME will enrich the insurance companies’ data-bases and will help improve their data driven risk assessment models and predictions.

At DIA Amsterdam Ofer Familier, Director of Business Development at Vayyar, showcased and introduced the company’s Walabot HOME fall detection and health monitoring device.
